Free Watch AppraisalsThe timepieces produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre are legendary, and include one of the most iconic watches of all time: the Reverso. Originally intended as a sports watch, the Reverso was conceived to address the problem of polo players smashing the glass on their wristwatches.

The solution was to create a watch with a case that could swivel 180 degrees on the wrist, protecting the fragile glass during play. The appeal of the Art Deco masterpiece quickly spread beyond the polo field. Today, the Reverso is considered one of the most magnificent dress watches of all time.

Whether you are looking to sell a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso or a Memovox, Polaris, or other model, you can count on Diamond Estate to provide you with accurate information about the value of your timepiece and the best possible cash offer.

Learn More About Jaeger-LeCoultre

Antoine LeCoultre founded a small watchmaking workshop over 180 years ago in Le Sentier, Switzerland, and quickly began to revolutionize the watch making industry.

His early contributions to horology included construction of a machine to cut watch pinions from steel, a watchmaking instrument capable of measuring down to the micron, and most notably, a system that eliminated the need for a key to rewind or set watches. He also paved the way for the use of interchangeable parts in the watch manufacturing process.

LeCoultre’s workshop eventually grew, and a new, centralized facility under the name LeCoultre & Cie became the first manufacturer in the Switzerland’s famed Vallée de Joux. This new facility used a steam driven machine to power its tools, and employed more than 500 watchmakers by 1870. At this time LeCoultre & Cie provided all the movement blanks for the famed watchmaker Patek Philippe.

In 1903, French watchmaker Edmond Jaeger had become interested in complications that measure speed, and challenged LeCoultre to produce an ultrathin movement. Challenge accepted, the result was the world’s thinnest pocket watch, and a lasting relationship that resulted in the formation of Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Rendez-Vous collection for women features elegant, diamond-set cases.

Current offerings from Jaeger-LeCoultre include a number of collections, from the Reverso (with variations on the original) to the Hybris Artsitica collection (which showcases a high degree of cooperation between design and technical watchmaking expertise; enameling, engraving, skeletonization, and gem-setting are united in a unique balance of technical skill and aesthetics).

Their Rendez-Vous collection for women features elegant, diamond-set cases with ultra-thin movements and delicately rounded edges.

The unconventional watches of the Master Extreme collection are designed for performance in hostile environments, with innovative materials, surface coatings, and a host of utilitarian functions. The more traditional look of the Geophysic collection takes its inspiration from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 1958 watches, which were used by explorers during the expeditions of the International Geophysical Year.

The advanced technical expertise of Jaeger-LeCoultre is on display in the Duomètre collection. The Dual-Wing movement features two independent mechanisms combined by a single regulating unit. One mechanism is responsible for the watch’s complications, and the other the accuracy of timekeeping. The resulting Dual-Wing movement sets the collection apart as one of the greatest in the tradition of grand complication watches.
