1) How do you arrive at a cash offer for my engagement ring?
When you sell an engagement ring to Diamond Estate, we take a variety of factors into consideration during the appraisal process. The quality and carat size of the center diamond is the most important factor.
Other factors include the condition and style of the ring, as well as the manufacturer. If your engagement ring was manufactured by a luxury jeweler such as Tiffany & Co., Harry Winston, or Graff, the demand for the ring will be greater. We thus will be able to pay you an additional premium based on brand value.
2) Can I sell my engagement ring for its retail price?
A fancy yellow diamond engagement ring recently bought by Diamond Estate.
Unfortunately, you cannot sell an engagement ring close to its retail price. The only situation where you might be able to would be if you had recently bought the ring and have a family member or friend who is looking to buy a diamond engagement ring.
Getting a price close to retail isn’t possible when selling your ring to a jewelry buyer, online auction, or fine jeweler. The reason is that the retail price of your diamond ring was likely at least triple the manufacturing cost. This usually holds true even if you bought your engagement ring online or at advertised “wholesale” prices.

3) Can I sell my engagement ring for its appraisal price?
It all depends on the kind of appraisal. You won’t be able to sell an engagement ring for the price listed on a replacement/insurance appraisal or on the appraisal certificate that came with the purchase of your engagement ring. These kinds of appraisals show the retail value of your diamond ring, which (as we mentioned) is at least triple the manufacturing cost.
However, if you have obtained a “market appraisal” of your engagement ring — an appraisal that lists the resale value of your engagement ring — then you often will be able to receive an offer close to that cash price, depending on the accuracy of the appraisal.
4) Can I sell a diamond ring with an uncertified diamond?
Yes, you can sell your engagement ring to Diamond Estate with an uncertified center diamond. And, more importantly, you can still get an excellent price! However, please do let us know if you have a lab report for your diamond. A lab report from a respected diamond lab such as GIA (Gemological Institute of America) will make it easier for us to quickly evaluate your diamond ring and make a cash offer.
